It was the
7th of July 1977 around 2 p.m. Just another ordinary summer say. At the small taverna "Pepos Yard" in Dion. Areopagitou 18 street, next to
Acropolis, right across the new Acropolis museum the staff had already prepared
different dishes and the yard was almost full. But there
was only one empty table at the right side of the garden. At this "blessed
table" started the most beautiful friendship story ever. At this table sat a
goddess and a demigod. When the couple asked if there was a table available Mr
Pepos couldn’t believe his eyes!!! It was the first time a goddess and a
demigod would dine in the small restaurant.
The reason
that the couple chose that restaurant as Mr Pepos eventually found out was the
doctor’s love of old buildings. But Mr Pepos believes it was more than that.
The footsteps of this lovely couple were led there by God in order to teach to Mr
Pepos the meaning of friendship and love.
The names
of these lovely people are Denise & Derrick. From the first moment friendship blossomed between
the couple and Mr Pepos. The first meeting happened along
with some wine and fruits.
The couple came from Germiston (South Africa) the
goddess was named Denise – (or Dionisia in greek) and the name of the demigod
was Thomas-Derrick. He was a descendand of Hippocrates and Asklipios as he
was a cardiologist. It was the first time they visited Greece. They were admirers
of the greek civilisation (the ancient of course) and that’s why he named his
cardiology centre in Germiston "Parthenon". The next day the couple was flying back
home. Mr Pepos asked for their address to keep in touch by mail, said goodbye,
wished them a safe trip back home and hoped they would visit Greece soon.
The next
day Mr Pepos went to the small restaurant and he found in the entrance a potted
plant with a letter! It was from Denise and Derrick. In the pot there was the seed
of friendship. The seed was so fertile that the friendship tree turned 37 years old.
We welcomed these blessed friends on the 25th of September 2013. The
previous visit took place in Germiston when Mr Pepos, Lamprini, Melissanthi and
Astro_Tom were hosted by their friends and in Gorgogyri in 2007 when we
celebrated 30 years of friendship in a magical night at the yard of wonders.
The
relevant pictures are from the dinner in Mr Pepos’s house for the arrival of
blessed friends where realtives and friends came along.
All these
years we lived magical moments and we saw our friendship grow feeling very
proud. Maybe some time with the help of my beloved friend from the army
Panagiotis Ladias who is also a philologist, I will decide to write a book
about this extraordinary friendship. The english translation of the book will
be translated by my niece Iro-Nikoletta who studied English literature or the
translator Dimitra (my other niece)

will fly back home at the 6th of October 2013
Of course we will listen again to the Emperor of Beethoven.

φιλίας.

Ήταν 07-07-1977 ώρα 14:00 μια ζεστή συνηθισμένη μέρα του καλοκαιριού. Στο μίνι restaurant Pepos Yard που
βρισκόταν στην οδό Διον. Αρεοπαγίτου 18, δίπλα στην Ακρόπολη, απέναντι από το
νέο Μουσείο. Το προσωπικό είχε ήδη ετοιμάσει διάφορα σπεσιαλιτέ και η αυλή ήταν
σχεδόν γεμάτη, υπήρχε ένα μόνο κενό τραπέζι στη δεξιά πλευρά όπως μπαίναμε στον
κήπο. Σε αυτό το ευλογημένο τραπέζι ξεκίνησε η αρχή της πιο όμορφης ιστορίας
φιλίας στον πλανήτη Γη. Σε αυτό το τραπέζι κάθισαν μια Θεά και ένας Ημίθεος,
όταν το ζευγάρι ρώτησε αν υπάρχει άδειο τραπέζι ο Mr Pepos που
ήταν στην υποδοχή των πελατών δεν πίστευε στα μάτια του!!! Ήταν η πρώτη φορά
που στο μίνι restaurant
θα γευμάτιζαν μια Θεά και ένα Ημίθεος.
Ο λόγος για επιλογής του δικού μας restaurant όπως πληροφορήθηκε αργότερα ο
Mr Pepos ήταν
η αγάπη του ζευγαριού και ειδικά του γιατρού για τα παλιά κτήρια, τελικά ο Mr Pepos πιστεύει πως δεν ήταν
μόνο αυτό, ήταν και κάτι άλλο, τα βήματα αυτού του Υπέροχου ζευγαριού τα
οδήγησε εκεί ο Δημιουργός για να μάθουν-διδάξουν στο Mr Pepo το νόημα της φιλίας, της
αγάπης κ.ο.μ.
Τα ονόματα αυτών των υπέροχων ανθρώπων είναι Denise & Derrick. Από την πρώτη στιγμή
ανάμεσα στο ζευγάρι και στον Mr Pepo
βλάστησε ένα κλωνάρι συμπάθειας και φιλίας. Μεταξύ κρασιού και φρούτων έγινε η
πρώτη γνωριμία, το ζευγάρι ήταν από το Germiston (South Africa)
την θεά την έλεγαν Denise – Διονυσία και το όνομα του Ημίθεου ήταν Thomas-Derrick και ήταν
απόγονος του Ιπποκράτη και του Ασκληπιού με την ειδικότητα του καρδιολόγου. Ήταν η πρώτη φορά που
επισκέπτονταν την Ελλάδα, ήταν λάτρεις
του Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού (εννοείται της αρχαιότητας) και γι’ αυτό το όνομα που
έδωσε στο διαγνωστικό κέντρο καρδιολογίας που διατηρούσε στο Germiston ήταν
‘’ΠΑΡΘΕΝΩΝ’’. Την επόμενη μέρα επέστρεφαν στην πατρίδα τους. Αντάλλαξε ο Mr Pepos τα στοιχεία για
μελλοντική αλληλογραφία και χαιρέτησε το ζευγάρι ευχόμενος να έχουν καλό ταξίδι
και να επιστρέψουν σύντομα.
Όταν την επόμενη μέρα πήγε στο μίνι restaurant o Mr Pepos βρήκε
στην είσοδο μια γλάστρα με ένα γράμμα!!! Ήταν από την Denise και τον Derrick, μέσα στην γλάστρα
είχαν φυτέψει τον σπόρο της φιλίας, μιας φιλίας ευλογημένης. Ο σπόρος ήταν τόσο
γόνιμος που το δέντρο της φιλίας αν και έγινε 37 ετών παραμένει νεότατο και με
πολύ πλούσιους καρπούς.
Αυτούς τους ευλογημένους φίλους υποδεχθήκαμε στις 25-9-2013.
Η προηγούμενη συνάντηση ήταν το 2006 όταν ο Mr Pepos η Lamprini, η Melissanthi και
ο Astrotom είχαν
επισκεφθεί και φιλοξενηθεί από τους φίλους τους στο Germiston και το
2007 στο Γοργογύρι όταν γιορτάσαμε τα 30 χρόνιας φιλίας σε εκείνη την μαγική
βραδιά στην αυλή των θαυμάτων.
Οι σχετικές φωτογραφίες είναι από τον ‘’τράπεζα’’ που έγινε
στο σπίτι του Mr Pepou
για την άφιξη των ευλογημένων φίλων όπου παρέστησαν συγγενείς και φίλοι.
Όλα αυτά τα χρόνια ζήσαμε μαγικές στιγμές και είδαμε τους
κρίκους στη χρυσή αλυσίδα φιλίας να αυξάνουν και να πληθαίνουν, και σαν
δημιουργοί νιώθαμε πολύ όμορφα και υπερήφανοι. Ίσως κάποια στιγμή με την
βοήθεια του εκλεκτού μου φίλου από τον στρατό και κορυφαίο φιλόλογο Παναγιώτη
Λαδιά αποφασίσω να γράψω ένα βιβλίο για αυτή την συναρπαστική ιστορία φιλίας.
Τη μετάφραση στην αγγλική έκδοση του βιβλίου θα την κάνει η ανιψιά μου,
τελειόφοιτος πια της αγγλικής φιλολογίας Ηρώ-Νικολέτα ή η μεταφράστρια Δήμητρα
Γκουβίνα (έτερη ανιψιά μου)
Οι φίλοι μας θα αναχωρήσουν για την πατρίδα τους στις
6-10-2013
Εννοείται πως θα ακούσουμε ξανά το Emperor του
Μπετόβεν.
